Adult obesity rates now exceed 35% in 19 states. West Virginia has the highest adult obesity rate at 41%, and Colorado and Washington, D.C., have the lowest at 25%. Between 2023 and 2024, no state experienced a statistically significant change in adult obesity rates. These findings come from an analysis conducted by Trust for America’s Health of the most recent data from the federal Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS).
