Physical Inactivity in the United States

Updated September 2020: According to the most recent Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) data, Mississippi had the highest reported percentage of inactivity among adults at 37.7%. In this survey, adults who are physically inactive are those who did not engage in physical activity or exercise during the previous 30 days other than for their regular job. Less than half of adults nationally, 46%, meet the national Physical Activity Guidelines for aerobic activity.
